Traditional Marketing is dying

Traditional marketing is becoming less and less effective by the minute and there is a better way.

Enter content marketing!

But what exactly is content marketing?

Content Marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly-defined audience — and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action. via What Is Content Marketing?

The most critical element of content marketing is what it is not. Content marketing is not selling. It is not about promoting your product.

Content Marketing is writing and posting articles that inform and educates your target market.

Instead of selling, deliver information that makes your buyer more intelligent.

If businesses deliver consistent, ongoing, valuable information to buyers, they will win more business. They will be rewarded with the readers business and loyalty. Via What Is Content Marketing?

7 essential Tips For Articles That Hold Your readers Attention

JD1-348x196_b3dVHD

In 1895, John Deere started publishing a magazine for farmers called The Furrow.

The company published the magazine in hopes of being a resource for their customers.

The content featured in The Furrow was educational, and it focused on teaching farmers how to be more fruitful business owners — a quintessential example of content marketing. via Is John Deere The Original Content Marketer?

This is one of the first examples of content marketing.

John Deere engaged with his customers. He informed them and educated them about all things farming and business. Do you think that farmers reading and learning from his newsletters  appreciated it?

For me the answer is a resounding yes. Why?

The Furrow is still published today.  The Furrow has modernised using social media channels LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.

Are you ready to use the proven Content Marketing method to build trust with your target market? If you are then you really need to take a serious look at it.

The 7 Tips

1 Be Relevant.

If the content is relevant to the reader you will peak their interest and thus engage them.

But how do we make our content relevant?

2. Be unique.

This is your opinion.  You comment on an article adding information that has meaning for your target market.

3. Be Appropriate.

You only want to post content that is appropriate to your target market. Content that isn’t relevant will be ingored and could devalue your previous efforts.

4. Give Value.

When you give a person something of value they will appreciate it. The principle of reciprosity also kicks in. This is when they want to give back to you. People who have benefited from high value content are most likely to share it with their peers.

5. Give Quality

“Quality content” is far more than just a buzzword marketers throw around for fun.

It’s what savvy marketers strive for, and what Google and people look for. It’s what separates the winners from the losers online; it’s what will help your site rank well in the search engines, what will naturally attract high-quality inbound links, and what will help you build trust, credibility, and authority with your audience. Jayson DeMers, Forbes Contributor

I think the message here is clear. Do not publish rubbish because your readers are not silly. They value their time and should should we.

The content John Deere publish was relevant and of value to his audience.

6. Be consistent

Writing quality educational and informative content is time consuming. But if you if you don’t regularly publish, how can you establish a readership that keeps coming back? You can’t.

But that isn’t the only reason. Google and the other search engines look at your website and rate it on freshness. That means they are looking for active sites because it means that the content is fresh.

At least one 1200 word post a month with several smaller posts each week is enough. And that means quite a significant investment of time.

We have a time saving way that helps them achieve this without a massive time commitment.

7. The single topic

  • Should I blog on one topic or should I blog on multiple topics?
  • Should I create one blog for multiple topics or different blogs for each topic?

In blogging, we often refer to a blog’s topic as its “niche”. In the way of examples, the SEOMOZ niche refers to blogs related to search engine optimization, Dailyblogtips falls within the niche of blogging, Labnol’s niche is technology, and ShoutMeLoud’s niche is small business and internet marketing.

Among the most important questions you should ask yourself before starting a blog is: What will be the topic of my blog? (What will I be writing about?)

If you write a multi-topic/multi-niche blog:

It will be difficult to define and create a readership for your blog.  Source

The same applies for each topic you write about. If you have a multiple topics in your post your readers will become confused.

Stick with one topic per post

Many people ask Should I blog on one topic or on multiple topics?

The same applies for each topic you write about. If you have a many topics in your post your readers will become confused.

One niche per blog – One topic per post

Simplicity is critical and so often ignored. Many business owner’s cram as much of their story as possible in the one article or video for that matter.

This confuses the reader. Even if the the reader finds sections of the article valuable, they are not likely to remember them. They will become distracted.

Keep your readers focused. Address one topic, one aspect of interest to your reader in the article.

The headline or snippet promoting the post grabbed their attention. So why start add other topics. Stick with the topic that appealed to them in the first place. If you do then you have a chance they will return, click the share button or even connect with you.

They have already told you what is of interest to them so, when you’re on a good thing – stick to it.

But we recommend that you take this single topic per article idea one step further.

Have one idea per paragraph and one thought per sentence. Keep it simple and it is easy to read.

Summary

Educating and providing customers with valuable, educational information has been proven to work. John Deere pioneered the concept way back in 1895. It worked!

Today the Internet has made content marketing cost-effective and incredibly powerful.

For it to work for you, the following tips are vital.

Be relevant. Only write about subjects that are of interest to your target market.

Be unique. Communicate your opinion and include content that will educate your customers.

Be appropriate. What is the point of writing about plumbing if your target market is a graphic designer?

Give value. If you provide value, your readers are far more likely to share your content.

Give quality. Providing quality content speaks for itself. Poorly written articles with little or no meaning for your target market is a waste of their time and yours.

Be consistent. Publishing an article every so often does not work. Google want to see content posted on a regular basis. Fresh, current content is what they want you to provide.

Finally, don’t confuse your readers. Keep each article limited to a single topic. One idea per paragraph and one thought per sentence. Oh yes, and make sure you keep it simple and easy to read.

5 Simple Lessons For People In Business From a College Student’s Pet Dog (A light hearted look at some valid business lessons)

District 32 Business Tips from a cute dog Mary, a college student, pursuing her Business Administration Association degree in the United States of America obviously loves her dogs.

Observing her pet, she came up with 5 lessons for people in business.

Follow your nose

Dogs have a thing with sniffing. They want to smell everything because this way they can understand the world around them better!

Dogs want you to do the same. Investigate everything around you! You should be aware of everything around you, only this way you will be able to be one step ahead of everyone! You can read Mary’s article here

I think Mary has a point because we all need to know what’s going on around us.

Investigate. Explore. Enquire. Keep abreast of current business trends

While I have no desire to go around sniffing what dogs do, I think the point she is making is valid. We need to be aware of what is going on in our world. What is happening around us.

Excitement

Therefore, you will be more successful, and happier in your workplace!

Many people in business have given the same advice. Celebrate your successes no matter how small!

loyalty and Friendship

Those of you who already have a dog, know the importance of loyalty between your dog and you! They trust you everything, and you always stay true to them. That’s why the bond between you is unbreakable!

On the other hand if you own a business and want to be successful, remember that your workers always should come first!

Today, with social media and reviews word of mouth travels at lightening speed. The Internet has given the customer more power than ever before, so it is a wise business person who puts their employees and customers first.

Remember, your customers can fire everyone in your organisation. All they have to do is spend their money somewhere else.

Be transparent

I absolutely love my dog’s transparency! This way I can understand when I have done something good or wrong, and try to always keep my pet happy.
Showing off your emotions will improve your communication skills. Never be afraid to show how you feel.

It is basic for the business world to admit when you are wrong, or right! Showing off your emotions will only help you to improve your business skills!  You can read Mary’s article here

Emotions drive sales

Follow-your-noseMary has the right idea regard emotions, and there is little doubt that emotional intelligence has become essential for managers and business owners. Empathy is the key. Get to know and understand your customers!

Are You Struggling to Generate High Quality Leads for Your Business?

Marketing struggle dINqsvLead Generation can be a struggle for business owners.

In the Nineties we didn’t have a choice.

We had to make cold calls and go out looking for our next customer. It was push marketing.

Push marketing is history because it takes time, heaps of energy, is expensive and can be very demoralising.

The Internet and Content Marketing has changed all of that!

Content marketing is any marketing that involves the creation and sharing of media and publishing content to acquire and retain customers.

The type of content businesses share is closely related to what they sell. Wikipedia – Content Marketing

Content Marketing – the new SEO?

The beauty of SEO is that, instead of pushing a marketing message onto folks who don’t want to hear what you have to say, you can … create the right content for it, and appear before them at exactly the moment they are looking for it. It’s pull vs. push. Reference

Content Marketing – doing away with tyre kickers

This way of generating quality leads is also known as Content Marketing. The idea is for your content to reach your target market at the time they are looking for your service. They are ready to buy. Content Marketing achieves this by using long-tail-keywords.

long-tail-keyword phrases

By using long-tail-keyword phrases Google (and the other search engines) have a much better idea of what your blog post is about. If your content has one topic with keyword phrases appearing naturally throughout the content then web surfers  potential customers searching for your product or service your content is more likely to be found.

It works like magic because you are giving Google what they want. High quality educational content which means that your customers come to you. Content Marketing or Inbound marketing!

The white lies of SEO

Let’s begin this process by telling a lie.

Queens crown ysbxdt“Content is king.”

Bull hockey. The king doesn’t rule jack squat. A truer statement is this: If content is king, then the user is queen, and she rules the universe. Let’s say that again, because this is important.   “The user is queen, and she rules the universe.”

Google do not care about you or your business!

Google’s customers are the Queens – the people who use their service to find quality answers to queries.

Google only cares about your content inasmuch as it answers the user’s search query. Search results are not a collection of “good” content; they are a ranked list of content that best satisfies what the user is looking for.  Reference

With this in mind it’s important to know your target market’s pain points.

Create content closely related to your business

Why are they looking for your service?

What problem do you solve for them?

What information do they need to know about your industry?

How can you educate them about your niche?

Lead Generation 8EZL8kThe answers to these questions provide you with the topics your potential customers want to know about. The idea is to create content that gives them the information they need. If the information you provide is real relevant and educational then the viewer with begin to develop trust in your service.

Your content demonstrates that you know your business and potential customers are more likely to respond to your call to action whatever that maybe.

What do Google want?

Google state very clearly that they will reward high quality, educational content that is relevant to the person using their service searching for answers to their query. It isn’t just what Google want – it’s what they demand!

SEO tricks of the trade will not survive. Good relevant content will survive because everyone wins!

A win, win, win situation.

Win win L8yt94Google win because their customer is happy. Their customer wins because they have found the answer to their issue. You win because the web surfer has found your product or service.

Content marketing is essential for anyone who is looking to take his or her business to the next level.
